Are you one of the thousands of die-hard South Carolina men’s soccer fans? Have you been curious about the Name, Image and Likeness situation for that particular program and thought about getting in on the movement?
Here is your chance and you can double your money while doing so.
Thanks to the generosity of Chappell, Chappell and Newman, attorneys at law, Garnet Trust will offer a dollar-for-dollar match for any donation toward NIL for the Gamecocks men’s soccer program up to $25,000.
Despite it not being a sport sponsored by the Southeastern Conference, South Carolina has a long and storied tradition in men’s soccer since its inception under legendary head coach Mark Berson in 1978. Carolina has advanced to the College Cup (the men’s soccer version of the Final Four) twice, in 1988 and 1993. In ’93, the Gamecocks finished as the national runner-up, falling to powerhouse Virginia in the final match of the season. South Carolina has advanced to the national quarterfinals four times, the round of 16 11 times and the round of 32 16 times in its history with 22 trips to the NCAA Tournament.
Not bad for a program that has only existed for less than 50 years. Famous men’s soccer alums include record-setting former Major League Soccer start Clint Mathis, among others.
Current head coach Tony Annan replaced Berson in 2021 and is hoping to guide Carolina to the top of the Sun Belt Conference this season and get its first bid to the NCAA Tournament since 2016.
Even if you aren’t a fan that shows up to every match at the iconic “Graveyard” (the nickname for Stone Stadium), there is some additional motivation to support this sport- bitter rival Clemson has won two out of the last three NCAA Championships in men’s soccer and has four titles in its history. There was once a time where the two Palmetto State programs were on equal footing and a great way for Carolina to get back on that level is by supporting NIL.
So we encourage everyone to give what they can. If it is $5 that becomes $10 between now and Aug. 30.

We’re on a mission to build the best NIL program in college sports. By making NIL deals more accessible, we’re helping student-athletes develop the critical business and life skills they need as they transition to life after sports.
